This problem is even more pronounced around the global level, with 442, 760 incident cases and 241, 458 deaths globally in 2012 [2]; rates are particularly high in parts of Western Europe, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. The relatively large mortality is, in part, due to the fact that the majority of patients initially present at an advanced stage [3], which is associated with a much poorer prognosis JWS [4].
